Text written by Bård Lie Thorbjørnsen,

Scenographer and artist.

In Jon Eriks project the pictures alternate between stills and video, between

black and white and color. The shifting of pictures and transitions are very

clear, as if to underline the intention of not being reality. Landscapes, citys-

capes, humans or picture of humans and details floating into each other and

will surround us in the exhibition room.

Structures of nature changes in videos and makes a continuum that

contrasts the still pictures and make them stand out. There is also something

building up, dramaturgically, true the soundtrack and the shifting stills.

The human turns the back on us, promenades in very long distance, wading

in silhouette into the water or wearing a mask while handing over flowers.

Anyway, we are confronted by the human environment, manmade or nature.

There is destruction, blood and pictures that crackers. Is there a romantic

view that reveals itself? The forces of nature against the human hybris?

It is existential. We are confronted.

Light that flicker follows the picture and builds up a rhythm. Light in different

forms, both artificially and natural orchestrate the pictures. The fire of a sta-

tue of an ox gives a lot of symbolic associations. Thru different pictures the-

re is a lighted tread, a luminous worm or may be an ectoplasm for our time.
